There is something about seeing an abandoned building that instantaneously affects so many people. It could be the thought that, at one point in time, the building they are looking at was once so filled with life. Maybe the building just looks creepy. Either way, the Internet has formed quite the fascination with abandoned architecture around the world, from hospitals to churches. Given that Detroit, Michigan, has faced such a dramatic population decline and urban decay over the years, it has an overwhelming number of abandoned buildings to explore. Even places of worship are now closed and stand empty.

These churches used to be a place of hope and faith, now they are just empty space. That fact alone sends chills down my spine. Hopefully, in the future these beautiful buildings can be reclaimed, but for now they are just remnants of happy memories.
